This is the first Life on Mars Artathon!

Gen, het, slash are all welcome. All genres are welcome! All media are welcome!
There are no size limits or requirements!

The artathon works on the request exchange format. You submit a set of requests. You then have the opportunity to request an assignment from the available list after sign ups end. The best way to make sure you get an assignment you want to write is to encourage as many people as possible to get involved. The more people who sign up, the more varied the choices are. Yearning for pirate!Sam? Request it! Yearning for Gene in 2013? Ditto! Want more Nameless Ones art? (And who doesn't?) Get that request out there!

Please spread the news! Spread it far and wide, to tumblr and beyond!

Sign ups end January 20th.

Selection is due by January 25th.

Assignments will be given out January 28th.

All art will be due February 26th.

On February 26th, you will be able to post your art to your LJ or DW journal/AO3 or the lifein1973 community. I'll post a masterlist, you'll give me the link to your art, and we'll all enjoy a feast of admiring and feedback.

To join, reply to this entry with the form below. All comments will be screened.

Fill in what you want someone else to write for you.

Your requests may contain: characters, pairings, plot points, ratings, genres and prompts. Each request is separate and may contain up to three elements. You must supply three requests; your assigned participant will choose which one they want to fill. Please try to choose three distinctly different requests, to give participants some flexibility.

Example elements include (but are not limited to): Gen, Sam/Annie, Sam/Gene/Annie, Sam/Gene, Ray/Chris, Gene/Annie, Gene/The Missus, ensemble, buddy cop, a specific rating (ie; the cortina ratings or, G, PG, PG-13, R or NC-17 fic), a specific genre (science fiction, comedy, fairy tale), young Gene, young Sam, Sam whumping, Gene in the future, Sam waking up, creepy test card girl, Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics, Nelson, Gene-centric, anything involving Chris, Ray-as-a-werewolf, the phrase "I am in love with your brain", family, car sex, Sam's flat, coma hallucinations, lost & found, movies, "Sam is a koala", a bottle of wine, a murder investigation, music, missing scene fic, case-fic, alternative universe, kink!fic, kink: knotting, kink: rimming, etc.

Fill in what you are uncomfortable receiving.

If there are characters, pairings, or elements you particularly don't want to receive, please list them. Your preferences and restrictions will be taken into account when participants are listed.

Pinch-hitters (AKA --- people who draw when the originally assigned artist cannot.)

Volunteers for pinch-hitters are needed - please include your availability.

*snerk* I love that you used one of my old sign-ups.

Can I just ask about what the parameters of art are in this fest? Does it include icons/gifsets/wallpapers/photo manipulation, or is it more for digital painted artwork, pencil, sculplture?

I think it should be open to all media, so it'll be interesting to see how one might interpret prompts via gif sets or whatever!

Do you have to have a livejournal account?
And does writing count in the artathon? Because I'm best at writing but I'm reasonably good at drawing...

Hmmm. I believe it would be best if you did have an LJ account, but at the same time I imagine we could make it work even if you didnt...

However, this is an ARTathon, so it's not for writing. There is a Life on Mars ficathon that happens at a different time of the year.

We can always have a mod post someone's work for them, with all due credit and no editing, of course.

ETA: and by 'mod', I also mean 'mod of the actual fest', not just Sky, Fawsley or myself.
