looking for a fic

Gene-centric, 1-shot. Morrison shows a younger Gene his policing methods, &It involves a nonce’s head being “kicked like a football” & shoved down the toilet. Gene is shocked by his methods, but under his influence he slowly changes to what he is now. I loved it. I remember it was written by someone called Rosie but that was it.

I’m assuming you’ve heard re the new series & was wondering what, if anything, you thought?? Due to not being great w/ dates I was v pleased until my mum told me what the date was….. xx

Searching for a vid

So I've gone headfirst back into LoM fandom the past few weeks - its been a delight rewatching the show after a few years and going back to rediscover all the old (and some new) fics.

There is one thing I have been hunting for since the start though which I cant find. There was a fanvid, Sam/Gene, set to Imogen Heap's 'Hide and Seek'. I've had the song stuck in my head since I started rewatching and rereading as I adored the video and watched it so many times years ago.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find it again?

Fic beta needed (Maya/Sam)

I've just finished a fic that I started, believe it or not, in 2006. It was an absolute nightmare to write, for some reason - I literally worked on it continuously for all that time, though it's not even long (about 1500 words). It's from Maya's POV, which was a large part of the problem, really, because we're given so very little of her in canon. I also had to pack a whole lot of psychological complexity into it, and it somehow demanded to be done in a very "compressed" format, which meant constant weeding out/distilling down, which can be very hard in its own right.

(And yes, I know it's a little mad to work on a piece of fanfiction for that long. To be fair, I wrote other things in the meantime, too.)

Anyway, it's done now, and since I'm not a native speaker, I feel I should run it past a beta. Yet all my former contacts in this fandom aren't active anymore, and I'm not sure anyone still is, really...

If you'd like to get an idea of what my writing is like, here's my last LoM fic before this one:

Any takers?

Searching for a fic

Hey, I haven't been around in a loooong time. Recently I had to think about LoM and the awesomeness of the whole show. In my mind I was thinking about some fics I read and some new(?) ideas came to me.

Is there a fic where Sam is taken care of by a Pakistani family?

Kinda like a surrogate family to Sam because his Mum is always working (so is Auntie Heather) and Sam is quite often on his own.

I had to remember that scene where Sam kind of invades that family's home to talk to Maya on the screen and he breaks down crying. So is there like a fic where Sam gets taken care of either as a kid or as an adult by a Pakistani/Indian family? (Were Ravi and his brother even Pakistani??? Man, I need to rewatch the show!)

Hope you guys can help me (or you get inspired to write something ;)).

Thank you; and new beginnings

I first stumbled across this community the night Season 2, Episode 6 aired in the UK, which according to Wikipedia was 27th March 2007. On 5th May 2007, I posted my first LoM fic. Since then I simply cannot count the number of wonderful people I've met / chatted to / shared ideas and all kinds of fanworks with. It's been a phenomenal 10 years, and I am so proud of our corner of fandom. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for shaping our lives with love for a TV show.

Following previous posts on the subject, which you can see here and here (members locked), I would like to formally invite you all over to our Dreamwidth community:

You can still post on the LJ comm if you want to, I will continue to import any new developments here over to Dreamwidth. But I'd like the DW version not to be just a back-up from now on.

If you'd like to make the DW community look and feel that little bit more like this one, you can claim your LJ OpenID and link it to your Dreamwidth account.

I really hope we can make a fresh start on DW while still sharing the love for 1973.

To quote our beloved Sam Tyler: "Whichever strange place you find yourself in, make that your home."
